The Rise House has new pipes!
And other updates, including our Discord server, an upcoming author chat, and a winter weaving course.
Remember that huge plumbing project we fundraised for? Behold the disintegrating pipes that we have since had removed and replaced! Thank you so much for your support of this vital infrastructure project. Below is a wall that was sealed up after the work was finished, adorned with the names of so many Rise community members.
Rise is now on Discord!
We have long wished for a digital space that would serve as the virtual version of the Rise House: a place where women could connect and empower one another. In that spirit, we’re excited to share that Rise now has a Discord server! Unfamiliar with Discord? No problem. It’s a lot like Slack — a messaging platform with channels for different topics and affinity groups.
Please join us there by filling out this intake form. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Holly Dowell (hollyd@nowsherises.org).
On Wednesday, November 30 at 8 PM Eastern we’ll be chatting with Kelley Nikondeha, author of The First Advent in Palestine, on Instagram Live. We’d love to have you join us!
Quarterly Rise House Dinner
Attention DFW locals! Our Rise Christmas Dinner will be on December 3rd. Please let Holly know if you need additional details or plan to attend.
P.S. On the Rise Discord server, we have a group for folks who are local to the Rise House. If you're not a member yet, please sign up here.
Winter Weaving Class
On Saturday, December 10th, Rise community member Carly Payne will be leading us in a weaving project. NO experience is needed and there will be plenty of laughing at ourselves! Kids aged 10 and up should be able to complete this craft.
We will gather both at The Rise House and virtually so you can join in on the fun from anywhere. Materials will be provided (including shipping to virtual participants). Cost is $20 with scholarships available if the price is prohibitive to your participation.
The Women of Rise
We love connecting women — the very people whose thriving motivates our work. Each month, we’ll wrap up the newsletter by introducing you to some members of the Rise community.
